Went down to Oklahoma on Sunday to pick some big morels (will post videos from there soon). When I got back and checked my spots I was glad to see that the Mid-MO morels are getting bigger.
Oh and they are just getting started in the south facing slopes of the hills. This one had just come up overnight.

We've tried leaving morels to let them grow, and our experience has been that they just dry out, get filled with bugs, and show no discernible difference in size. Have you experienced the same mushroom growing over a period of a day or more? I check the same spots daily when they're popping and always find fresh ones that seem to have just come forth over night.
Report from northern Boone County near Centralia - found this morning the first tiny morel, barely one inch tall, it had been broken off at its stem. Ground is extremely soggy after 6 inches of rain in the past week.
Found my first morel of the season today in Northeastern Hickory County. Located on a north facing creek bank. It was small, about 2 inches. Still moist and tight pitted as if it had just appeared today. The ground is still very wet here and cool. Hoping to find more in the same area if it warms up.
Found a nice clutch of blacks today after finding only a single yellow the other day on the same bit of land near Greenview MO. They will go great with the pork steaks tonight!
Well, the 28degree weather the other night here in Missouri may have hampered the morels...but the TICKS ARE FIERCE THIS YEAR:)
Found 24 nice greys and 30 nice yellows today. April 30 they are starting to pop now. St.Francois Co.
Found 13 nice ones in the last two days in Warren County (40 miles west of STL)
I went hunting today also the may apples are staying to pop up. No luck with Mushrooms.
